Selecting guide
Hard furnishing blinds ( timber venetians, venetians, hollands, verticals, etc) look great but are non insulating. They do not blockout the window completely, were there is light there are no insulating properties. Great for shaded windows, feel the glass in your window as it transfers the outside temperature inside. They are casual and easy to manage. Great in wet areas. They dont invade into the room. In the window (inside reveal) or on the front of the window (outside reveal) this is a personal choice. Take into account any obstructions: window handles, ledges and electrical switches. Soft Furnishings can make a room and each room different by using different fabrics, colours, and types of furnishings. You can choose the level of insulation by the type of lining or coating on a fabric you use. You can use a wide range of different fabrics and they dont need to be expensive to look great. Write a list of questions to ask as knowledge always helps to make good choices. To make colour choices use a piece of colour and put it on or along side of the furniture, walls and flooring in the room. You can use paint colour swatches from you paint supplier or pieces of fabrics, like towels , sheets etc. Dark colours make rooms look smaller and light colours make rooms look bigger. When selecting you furnishings always look at it long term, as you get a lot of years out of your furnishings, trends come and go, and it can work out expensive if you change your mind every couple of years.
